Hong Kong Police Reserve when employed during war

or any emergency on any naval, military or police

service such as, in the opinion of the Governor in

Council, to entitle him to relief from disqualifica-

tion on account of absence, shall not cease to be

member of the Council by reason only of failure to

attend meetings of the Council if the failure is due

to that employment.

(2) If the Chairman or vice-chairman of the Council is

continuously absent from the Colony for a period exceeding two

months, he shall as from the date of the expiration of that

period cease to hold that office.

27. Where a member of the Council

(a)

ceases to be qualified to be a member of

the Council;

or

(b) becomes disqualified from being a member of

or

the Council for any reason other than by

reason of a surcharge, or of a conviction,

or of a breach of any enactment relating to

corrupt or illegal practices;

(o) ceases to be a member of the Council or to

hold the office of Chairman or vice-chairman

by reason of failure to attend meetings of.the

Council or by reason of absence from the

Colony, as the case may be; or

(a) was nominated as a member by one of the bodies

designated in the First Schedule to this

Ordinance or any amendment thereof and the

Governor in Council has decided that such

nomination is not valid;

the Council shall, except in any case in which a declaration

has been made by the Supreme Court under this Part of this

Ordinance, forthwith declare his office to be vacant and

signify the vacancy by notice signed by the clerk of the Council

published in the Gazette.
